About This Style
What These Profiles Represent
The TTB Beverage Alcohol Manual treats liqueur/cordial as a flavored spirits product containing at least 2.5% by weight sugar, made by mixing or redistilling spirits with natural flavoring materials or extracts. The same manual lists Black Russian and White Russian formulas using vodka with coffee flavored brandy or coffee liqueur/cordial, which is useful labeling context but not a legal conclusion for any particular DUI Professional record.
Documented brand history is product-specific rather than a single origin story for the whole subtype. Pernod Ricard identifies Kahlua as born in Veracruz, Mexico in 1936; Borghetti official material traces that Italian espresso liqueur to Ugo Borghetti in 1860; Diageo identifies Mr Black as an Australian cold brew coffee liqueur launched in 2013 and acquired by Diageo in 2022.
The modern database sample reflects that breadth. Active public rows include rum-and-coffee liqueur, espresso liqueur, cognac-and-coffee liqueur, coffee-cream liqueur, and coffee flavored brandy profiles from manufacturers in Mexico, the United States, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Nicaragua, the United Kingdom, Austria, Australia, and Ireland when producer information gives a usable country or production location.
The database average is a screening value for this subtype only. For BAC simulation, use the selected drink record, pour volume, product ABV, timing, absorbed fraction, elimination, and subject variables rather than assuming the subtype average applies to a real consumed drink.
